At Cakes Plus we have many decadent cake flavours for you to choose from, as well as a complimentary range of icings and fillings. Let us know if you are looking for something that is not on the list, as it is likely we will be able to bake it for you.

Black Forest Cake

A traditional chocolate cake sandwiched with fresh cream and a rich cherry filling flavoured with kirsch liqueur makes a wonderful dessert cake. Without the cream the cake can be covered with fondant icing and decorated in the traditional way.

Carrot and Walnut Cake

A deliciously moist but light textured cake made with wholemeal flour and bran for extra flavour and added nutrition. Iced and layered with lemon flavoured cream cheese frosting it lends itself to decoration with fresh flowers and/or fruit. A tasty dessert cake and a fitting finish to a wedding day.

Carrot Cake

A beautifully flavoured, heavy dense cake. An ideal alternative for the traditional fruit cake, this cake is suitable for icing with fondant icing.

Chocolate Fudge Cake

With its fudge-like texture, this layered cake is the best chocolate cake ever - delicious to the last crumb.

Because of its versatility the Chocolate Fudge Cake is our most popular chocolate cake for decorating. Lighter than a mud cake, it has a universal appeal to adults and children alike and can be enjoyed by all. Ideal to serve sliced with coffee; layered and iced with a dark chocolate ganache and decorated in the style of your choice it becomes a wonderful dessert cake. Chocolate Mud Cakes

Layered, filled and iced with chocolate ganache icing, or simply covered with traditional fondant icing - the choice is yours.

  • Dark Chocolate Mud Cake:

    Heavy, rich & yummy - "the cake to die for"! A delectable alternative to fruit cakes for weddings and other celebrations. Yes we also have a gluten free chocolate mud cake suitable for weddings, anniversaries and special occasions. Both versions are dark and very rich - a little goes a long way.
  • White Chocolate Mud Cake

    A lighter texture than the dark mud cake this cake is deliciously sweet. It's popularity has pushed it to the top of the ladder of the special occasion favourite cake list.
  • Butterscotch Chocolate Mud Cake

    With a texture similar to the white mud cake, this cake with its distinctive butterscotch flavour is equally delicious. Not quite as rich as either the cark or light chocolate mud cakes, the Butterscotch Chocolate Mud Cake is an excellent birthday cake. An equally delicious Gluten Free version that can be enjoyed by all is also available.

Citrus Almond Fruit Cake

A rich, light butter cake with a sprinkling of mixed fruit packed with slivered almonds and delicately flavoured with grated orange peel & sweet sherry. When made with glace fruits replacing the mixed fruit this cake looks stunning when it is sliced, as it resembles stained glass! Early orders recommended as cake needs time to mature. Keeps well - 6 mths or more. Suitable for icing with traditional fondant icing.

Cupcakes

Our exquisite little cakes are ideal for afternoon tea, an elegant, chic dessert for a dinner party, or as a splendid and original birthday or wedding cake. Individually iced and decorated and placed onto a tiered stand they look fabulous.

Our cupcakes can be iced or decorated in almost any style. For your wedding, we can create anything from a vintage shabby chic stand of dainty little butter cakes iced with softly coloured butter cream and delicate flowers, through to the modern look of a Perspex stand of citrus poppy seed cup cakes finished with brightly coloured icing and fresh flowers to match your wedding bouquet. Depending upon your occasion, we can customize your cupcake stand with materials and lace to match your bridal theme, or we can thrill a little girl with a generous tray of lamington "angels".

Cup cake flavours can be anything from a delicate lemon or vanilla flavoured butter cake through to a white chocolate mud, deluxe mocha mud, or traditional fruit cake. The icing finish is restricted only by your imagination. A 13cm cake can be incorporated into your design for cutting.

We cater for your particular dietary requirements. Our chocolate vegan cupcakes are the best ever, our gluten free and wheat free cupcakes are popular, and because we bake everything from scratch we can offer you a combination of dietary requirements.

Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake

Hummingbird Cake

Combining crushed pineapple and mashed banana, this lusciously moist cake which originated in South America is delicious. Layered and completely covered with vanilla or lemon flavoured cream cheese frosting, this cake lends itself to decoration with fresh flowers. A wonderful dessert cake.

Japanese Strawberry Shortcake

This is an authentic Japanese recipe which is keenly sought after as a wedding cake by Japanese brides. Thickly layered with whipped fresh cream and a generous filling of sliced strawberries, it will bring back memories of home, and introduce that special "something" to your wedding day. The cake is beautifully moist,not too sweet, and has good keeping qualities (if refrigerated) for a period of one week. We stabilise our whipped cream to ensure it stands up reasonably well in hot weather.

Orange Poppyseed Cake

Deliciously moist, this popular combination of flavours is a safe bet to be loved by everybody. May be layered and completely covered with vanilla or lemon flavoured cream cheese frosting or iced with fondant icing.

Rich Dark Fruit Cake

Traditional, beautifully moist heavy, dark fruit cake flavoured with sweet sherry. Can be baked at the last minute. Keeps well - 6 months or more. Suitable for icing with traditional fondant icing, lends itself to being layered with almond paste to support a long keeping period.

Special Dietary and Baking Requirements

At Cakes Plus we specialise in baking great tasting home made cakes from scratch for people with Special Dietary Requirements. Gluten-free, Flourless, Vegan, Egg- free, Diabetic, Lactose-free, Low-fat and Fat-free Dietary Combinations are all catered for. As all our cakes are baked to order, your special preferences and your likes and dislikes can also be catered for.

Sponge Cakes

Our old fashioned sponge cakes are beautifully light. We also have a gluten-free sponge available for celiacs or those requiring a wheat-free cake. As sponge cakes have poor keeping qualities they need to be baked close to the day of your function. Sponges are ideally suited to light textured fillings and icings.

  • Chocolate Sponge:

    Traditional recipe, either sandwiched with jam and fresh cream, or rolled into a log, our chocolate sponge is quite a flexible recipe. Our black forest log encased in chocolate ganache is a cake to die for!
  • Plain Sponge:

    Traditional recipe, great either served as a slab topped with whipped fresh cream and fruit in season, or sandwiched together with apricot jam & whipped fresh cream. May also be joined together with mock cream if required. Gluten Free Sponge Cake is also available.
  • Spiced Honey Fluff Sponge:

    A light sponge cake featuring spices for extra flavour. Two sponges sandwiched together with sweetened whipped cream, or mock cream if you prefer.
  • Honey Sponge:

    Delicately flavoured and moist, this is a family favourite not to be missed. Two sponges sandwiched together with sweetened whipped cream or mock cream if you prefer. Keeps longer than the other sponge cake options.
